Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., Oct. 8, reported receipts of 1,389 head, compared to 988 head last week and 1,391 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold mostly $6 to $7 lower. Slaughter ewes sold steady, feeder lambs sold steady to mostly $5 lower. Demand for Slaughter lambs and feeders light, demand for slaughter ewes moderate. Receipts included about 76% slaughter lambs, 15% feeder lambs, 9% slaughter ewes and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 130 to 146 lbs., 94.00 to 96.00 (95.65); 45 head, 154 lbs., 94.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 125 to 129 lbs., 91.25 to 95.25 (92.66); 133 to 145 lbs., 91.25 to 94.25 (93.09); 28 head, 159 lbs., 92.25. Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 36 head, 132 lbs., 90.00. Slaughter ewes: Good and Choice 2 to 4, 15 head, 142 to 144 lbs., 27.00 to 28.00 (27.53); 160 to 167 lbs., 28.00 to 30.00 (29.61). Good 2 to 3, 11 head, 175 to 187 lbs., 21.00 to 23.00 (22.12). Good 2 to 4, 6 head, 202 lbs., 18.00. Utility 2 to 3, 137 to 139 lbs., 15.00. Cull 1 to 2, 9 head, 121 lbs., 10.00; 7 head, 105 lbs., 11.00.
