OKC West livestock auction reportThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 3,857 head Oct. 10, compared to 4,460 head last week and 4,408 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $1 lower. Feeder heifers not well tested. Demand was moderate to good for steers and improved from last week. Steer and heifer calves were $2 to $4 lower. Demand was moderate at best for calves. Feeder cattle in slightly thin to moderate flesh, calves in mostly fleshy conditions and short weaned. Weigh-ups showed the complete range of gaunt to full. Slaughter cows were $1 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Packer demand good and improved. The supply included a couple of loads of fleshy Holstein cows. A total of 358 cows and bulls sold with 66% going to packers.
