Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,400 head Oct. 8, compared to 5,124 head last week and 4,085 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 750 pounds and heifers under 600 pounds were steady to $3 lower, heavier weights were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. Calf trade was best on weaned, vaccinated offerings. Cattle futures were higher with the exception of October feeders. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 41% heifers, 14% bulls, with 42% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 383 lbs., 123.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 121.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 122.50; 600 to 700 112.25 to 117.00, calves 110.00 to 114.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 108.60 to 112.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 117.00 to 130.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 114.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.50 to 114.25; 800 to 900 lbs., 103.75 to 108.50; package 971 lbs., 95.00. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, package 521 lbs., 87.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 84.00 to 87.00.
