Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Oct. 5, reported receipts of 1,727 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,587 head last week and 3,111 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 300 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Barbados ewes, few 85 lbs., 60.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 300.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 120 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 117.00. Good, 50 to 80 lbs., 94.00 to 100.00.

Slaughter bucks: 140 to 250 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00. Barbados, ewes, few 80 lbs., 40.00; bucks, 80 to 120 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 32.00 to 45.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 65.00 to 75.00. Muttons, Selection 2, few 135 lbs., 75.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 70 lb. fancy 113.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 70.00 to 90.00. Selection 2, 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 150 lbs., 89.00 to 100.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 30 to 45 lbs., 100.00 to 112.00.
