Faith livestock sales
The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 4,725 head Oct. 8, compared to 3,433 head last week and 6,445 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold steady to $2 lower. Yearling steers sold mostly steady. Yearling heifers were not well tested. Offerings included many strings and partial loads of quality steer and heifer calves plus yearling steers and heifers. In addition, a single load of attractive replacement type heifers was also offered. In the feeder supply, 69% steers, 31% heifers with 18% weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder cows sold steady to $2 lower in a limited test. Slaughter cows were not well tested. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $2 lower in a light test. Receipts included about 97% feeder cattle and calves, 2% replacement females, with the balance slaughter cows and bulls and other miscellaneous cattle.
