Dodge City cattle sales reportDodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 1,378 head Oct. 3, compared to 2,345 head last week and 2,089 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, on a light test, steer calves at 400 to 700 pounds were steady, heifer calves at 350 to 550 pounds were steady to $4 higher, and instances of $8 higher on 450- to 500-pound heifers. On a light test, steers at 700 to 900 pounds were steady, and heifers at 550 to 700 pounds were steady to weak. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls showed no comparison with last week, but a lower undertone was noted. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 63% over 600 pounds, 31% under 600 pounds, 6% slaughter cows and bulls with 72 early. The feeder supply consisted of 42% steers and 58% heifers.
