Dalhart livestock sales reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,846 head Oct. 4, compared to 2,714 head last week and 1,710 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $3 to $5 lower, over 600 pounds were weak to $1 lower, except calves over 600 pounds were mostly $3 lower. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were weak to $1 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 80%, slaughter cows and bulls 10% and bred cows and pairs 10%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 60% of the run, heifers 40%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 38%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 133.00, package 458 lbs., 124.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 116.50, fleshy 106.75 to 107.50; load 688 lbs., 116.00, 600 to 700 lb. calves 106.00 to 111.00; load 708 lbs., thin 119.00, package 762 lbs., 115.00, 700 to 800 lb. calves 101.00 to 109.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 141.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 126.00, package 430 lbs., 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves 101.00 to 103.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 113.50; few 800 to 900 lbs., 104.00 to 108.50.
