Apache cattle sales report
Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,210 head Oct. 6, compared to 3,267 head last week and 2,125 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 lower. Steer and heifer calves were $4 to $6 lower. A national meat recall and country price adjustments leading cause of decline. There was a good attendance of buyers and trade was active on No. 1 offerings, moderate on balance. Cattle were in thin to fleshy condition. Receipts include 36% steers, 45% heifers, 19% cutter bulls with 54% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Most bred cows returned to pastures. There was a limited test on pairs. A total of 446 cows and bulls sold with 35% to packers.
