Ada livestock sale notes

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 2,580 head Oct. 4, compared to 2,750 head last week and 3,250 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steers were $3 to $4 lower. Heifers were steady to $1 lower. Demand was moderate on all classes. Weigh-ups were average. Flesh conditions were medium. The supply included 44% heifers and 36% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $4 lower. Demand was moderate at best for slaughter cows. A total of 350 head of cows sold with 36% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 20 head, 411 to 426 lbs., 129.00 to 134.00 (130.71); 17 head, 525 to 536 lbs., 113.00 to 124.00 (118.86); 15 head, 648 to 649 lbs., 113.00; 12 head, 691 to 692 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (111.67); 5 head, 660 lbs., 110.00 fleshy; 7 head, 739 lbs., 110.00; 10 head, 770 to 777 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00 (109.80). Medium and large frame 2, 11 head, 405 to 436 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00 (122.18); 6 head, 453 lbs., 121.00; 13 head, 526 to 540 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00 (108.60); 554 to 589 lbs., 104.00 to 111.50 (108.46); 604 to 648 lbs., 103.50 to 111.00 (108.75); 8 head, 658 to 679 lbs., 102.00 to 109.00 (105.55); 8 head, 700 to 738 lbs., 100.00 to 107.50 (104.75).

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 20 head, 1300 to 2075 lbs., 58.00 to 60.00; high dressing, 65.00; low dressing, 54.00 to 56.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 2 to 6 months bred, average to high blacks, 820.00 to 970.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 6 months bred, high blacks, 980.00 to 1110.00; 5 to 8 years old, 1050 to 1350 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, average quality, 770.00 to 840.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 4 to 7 years old, 1050 to 1350 lbs., with 150- to 350-lb. calves, average to high blacks, 1275.00 to 1350.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 125- to 375-lb. calves, average quality, 970.00 to 1100.00.
