Wyobraska cattle sales report
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Sept. 22, totaled 6,200 head, compared to 9,300 head last week and 10,160 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week, feeder steers sold steady, heifers were steady to $1 lower at Wyoming auctions this week. Demand was good. Overall quality was mostly average. Direct trading slow. Few comparable sales mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer inquiry was moderate to good. Offerings were moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 61% of the supply, heifers 39%, with 67% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1650 head of the total receipts.
