Tulia livestock sales report
The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,400 head Sept. 24, compared to 2,466 head last week and 1,534 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, except 600 to 650 pounds steers were $3 to $5 higher and 600 to 665 pound heifers were $3 to $4 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade active and demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 85% and slaughter cows and bulls 15% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 45% of the run, heifers 25%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 70%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 128.00 to 134.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 124.00, package 413 lbs., 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00; load 675 lbs., 114.00, loads 600 to 650 lbs., 123.00 to 124.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 113.75 to 119.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 110.25 to 116.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, pen 416 lbs., 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.50 to 110.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 114.00, load 655 lbs., 122.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 107.00 to 115.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 105.50 to 109.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 107.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 120.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.50 108.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.50 to 110.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 109.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 102.50 to 109.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 106.00, load 669 lbs., 110.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 99.00; part load 834 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, pen 388 lbs., 108.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 99.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 45.00 to 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 43.00 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 37.00 to 48.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1760 to 1975 lbs., 59.00 to 64.00.
