St. Onge livestock auction
The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 553 head Sept. 21, compared to 4,424 head last week and 1,845 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, not enough feeder cattle to adequately test the market, however a steady undertone was noted on yearlings and a lower undertone on calves. Buyer demand moderate on all feeder classes. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 lower. Packer demand was light to moderate. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 481 to 486 lbs., 118.00 to 118.50 (118.30); 3 head, 535 lbs., 116.00; 9 head, 579 lbs., 114.00; 13 head, 614 to 626 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50 (114.11) calves; 3 head, 1048 lbs., 101.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 head, 472 lbs., 113.00; 5 head, 557 lbs., 112.00; 14 head, 719 lbs., 115.00. Feeder bulls: Small frame 3, 32 head, 380 lbs., 86.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 448 lbs., 114.00; 9 head, 483 to 488 lbs., 112.50 to 113.00 (112.67); 16 head, 524 lbs., 112.75; 3 head, 555 lbs., 110.50; 857 to 889 lbs., 104.75 to 107.25 (106.28); 11 head, 919 lbs., 104.25; 7 head, 958 to 968 lbs., 99.00 to 103.75 (101.73); 4 head, 1010 lbs., 100.00 to 100.50 (100.38); 4 head, 1063 lbs., 95.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1650 lbs., 48.00 to 50.50; low dressing, 43.90 to 45.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1100 to 1425 lbs., 45.00 to 48.50; low dressing, 38.00 to 44.00.
