Springfield dairy heifer sale
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., Sept. 25, reported 886 head, compared to 876 head last month, and 1,259 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Springfield, Mo. This was a special dairy heifer sale. Demand was very good. The supply was moderate with 6% springer heifers, 10% bred heifers, 50% open heifers, 4% fresh and milking cows, 4% bred and springer cows, and 10% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise. Prices per head. Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months: Supreme 2010.00 to 2290.00, few Crossbreds 1875.00 to 2200.00. Approved 1600.00 to 1980.00. Medium 1375.00 to 1600.00, Crossbreds 1325.00 to 1600.00. Common 600.00 to 1225.00. Heifers: Bred three to six months, Supreme 1910.00 to 2250.00, Crossbreds 1825.00 to 2150.00.
