Sioux Falls sheep sales report
The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,247 head Sept. 24, compared to 1,380 head last week and 1,321 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter ewes too few to test. Due to light receipts of feeder lambs last week, trends are not applicable. Receipts included about 72% slaughter lambs, 17% feeder lambs, 8% slaughter ewes and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 21 head, 124 lbs., 102.25; 134 to 142 lbs., 100.75 to 102.00 (101.24); 42 head, 152 lbs., 102.25. Shorn Choice 2 to 3, 8 head, 132 to 141 lbs., 97.00 to 98.50 (97.96). Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 123 to 128 lbs., 100.00 to 100.75 (100.53); 132 to 146 lbs., 100.25 to 102.50 (101.07). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 122 to 127 lbs., 95.00 to 100.25 (98.96). Wooled, Choice 3 to 4, 40 head, 151 lbs., 99.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 35 head, 148 lbs., 30.00; 17 head, 163 to 181 lbs., 29.00 to 30.50 (29.66). Utility 1 to 2, 11 head, 174 lbs., 21.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 55 lbs., 110.00; 13 head, 66 to 69 lbs., 101.00 to 106.00 (102.59); 10 head, 75 lbs., 110.00; 14 head, 81 to 82 lbs., 108.50; 91 to 97 lbs., 98.00 to 102.50 (100.30); 4 head, 103 lbs., 102.50; 12 head, 115 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 2, 14 head, 60 lbs., 96.00; 14 head, 71 to 78 lbs., 95.00 to 96.00 (95.34); 5 head, 82 lbs., 97.00; 18 head, 93 to 98 lbs., 94.00 to 96.50 (94.58).
