Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,073 head Sept. 20, compared to 2,921 head last week and 2,681 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers 400 to 700 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, 700 to 800 pounds were $1 to $2 lower, 800 to 900 pounds were $3 to $4 lower, 900 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers 400 to 600 pounds were steady to $1 higher, 600 to 900 pounds were $1 to $1.50 higher Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 88% 600 pounds and over, 11% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 70% steers and 30% heifers.
