Farm computer use stagnatesSIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP)--A recent survey by the South Dakota office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service indicates that 55 percent of all South Dakota farms have Internet access. That is unchanged from a survey taken two years ago. Sixty-five percent of farms in South Dakota now have access to computers, and 40 percent of farms in the state use them for business purposes. The survey shows that 7 percent of farms have purchased agricultural input items over the Internet, and 12 percent went on line to market crops or livestock. Just 6 percent of the state's farms used computers to review Agricultural Statistics Service reports while 13 percent accessed other USDA reports or services over the Internet. Date: 9/21/07
