Arkansas cattle sales reportThe weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending Sept. 20, showed estimated receipts of 11,030 head, compared to 15,233 head last week and 14,586 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold weak to $2 lower, mostly $1 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $2 lower. Feeders sold weak to $3 lower. The supply was composed of 7,095 stocker and feeder calves, 2,410 feeder yearlings, 535 replacement cows, 850 slaughter cows, and 140 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 45% yearling heifers. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 44.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 43.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 49.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 38.00 to 43.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 40.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 46.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 32.00 to 40.00; low dressing, 25.00 to 32.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 57.00 to 63.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 57.00. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, english cross and english/exotic crosses, 300 to 350 lbs., 132.00 to 142.00 few sales to 154.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 128.00 to 138.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 122.00 to 132.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 99.00 to 109.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 650 to 800 lbs., open heiferettes, untested; 2 to 3 years old, 800 to 1000 lbs., open heiferettes, untested; 3 to 7 years old, 850 to 1250 lbs., third stage 62.00 to 72.00, 775.00 to 875.00 per head; second stage 51.00 to 61.00, 675.00 to 775.00 per head; first stage or open 49.00 to 59.00; 8 to 10 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., second to third stage 41.00 to 51.00, 625.00 to 725.00 per head; thin grazing cows 40.00 to 50.00. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 7 years old, 800 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 850.00 to 950.00 per head; 200- to 300-lb. calves 1050.00 to 1150.00 per head;, few to 1300.00.
