Ada livestock sales report

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 2,760 head Sept. 20, compared to 2,925 head last week and 4,262 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves were $1 to $3 lower. Many fleshy, crossbred cattle in trade. Good attendance of buyers and active on better offerings, moderate on balance. Cattle in thin to fleshy condition. Receipts included 45% steers, 41% heifers, 14% cutting bulls with 33% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 540 cows and bulls sold with 25% going to packers.

Boners, 45 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1300 lbs., 53.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 52.00. Lean, 25 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 48.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 44.00 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 20 head, 1300 to 2235 lbs., 64.00 to 66.00; high dressing, 68.00; low dressing, 60.00 to 63.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1175 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, high black 950.00 to 1070.00; 5 to 8 years old, 850 to 1125 lbs., 2 to 7 months bred, average black 720.00 to 850.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 800 to 1050 lbs., with 150- to 225-lb. calves, average to high black 1000.00 to 1300.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1050 to 1150 lbs., with 100- to 275-lb. calves, average black 1020.00 to 1190.00.
