Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,764 head Oct. 29, compared to 3,156 head last week and 3,782 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $ 3 to $5 lower in most instances. There was no good price comparison due to the limited test on yearlings over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were $3 to $4 lower. Trade was active and demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 85% and slaughter cows and bulls 15% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 64% of the run, heifers 36%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 58%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.25 to 112.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 111.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.00 to 102.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 106.50 to 109.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 113.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.50 to 112.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.50 to 110.00, string 657 lb. calves 96.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.50 to 108.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 101.00 to 106.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, small pen 463 lbs., 108.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 110.50 to 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 107.35; 600 to 700 lbs., 93.00 to 95.50; 771 to 788 lbs., 91.00 to 91.50, pen 700 lbs., thin 103.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 87.50 to 89.60. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 91.00 to 103.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 102.75; 600 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 95.00; 700 to 756 lbs., 92.00 to 97.00, small pen 729 lbs., thin 103.00; pen 832 lbs., 91.25.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 37.00 to 43.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 35.00 to 47.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 32.00 to 38.25.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1450 to 1950 lbs., 53.00 to 59.50.
