Training opportunity available for youth volunteers

Nebraska

Volunteers who work with youth organizations will have two opportunities to gain new skills this fall--Nov. 17 in Lincoln or Dec. 1 in North Platte.

Two Volunteer R&R (Retool & Refuel) trainings will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Lancaster County Extension Office or at North Platte Community College.

The purpose of the R&Rs is to provide youth development volunteers, leaders and professionals with resources to use in program planning and activities.

Training will be conducted by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension 4-H Youth Development. The event is open to volunteers of any youth serving organization.

The Volunteer R&Rs will focus on youth development, healthy lifestyles, expressive arts, leadership and communications. Each participant will be able to attend several workshops that relate to one of these fields. Participants also will learn hands-on ideas to use with youth and background information on how to most effectively work with youth.

Registration for the training is $30. Registration for the Lincoln training is due Nov. 9. Registration for the North Platte training is due Nov. 26. This includes workshops, learning stations, lunch and snacks. A detailed schedule and registration form is available from a local UNL Extension office, at http://4h.unl.edu or by calling Doug Swanson at 402-472-1762.

UNL Extension is in the university's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
