Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,529 head Oct. 24, compared to 2,528 head last week and 2,114 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers were $3 to $5 lower, Holsteins weighing 400 to 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher, and over 700 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Heifers were $4 to $7 lower. Demand was moderate to light, with a moderate supply. Offerings were typical for this time of the year with mostly small packages of calves. Cattle and Grain futures all closed on the down side. The feeder supply included 30% steers, 17% Holsteins, 35% heifers, 18% bulls, with 33% over 600 pounds.
