Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,490 head Oct. 25, compared to 1,849 head last week and 2,303 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers at 300 to 750 pounds were steady in a light supply, 750 to 800 pounds were $1 higher, and 800 to 1000 pounds were $1 lower in a light supply. Feeder heifers at 300 to 1000 pounds were not enough for a market test but a steady undertone was noted. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 70% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under, 15% cows and bulls. The feeder supply 65% steers and 35% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 57.00 to 60.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 46.00 to 51.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 62.00 to 63.00 (62.50); low dressing, 52.50 to 58.00 (55.38).
