High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Oct. 28 totaled 147,880 head, compared to 243,077 head last week and 239,498 head last year, according to the USDA-Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,084 head, 1,220 to 1,475 lbs., 88.00 to 93.00 (89.98); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,916 head, 1,289 to 1,450 lbs., 88.00 to 93.50 (91.75); 35 to 65% Choice, 36,554 head, 1,050 to 1,500 lbs., 90.00 to 93.50 (92.75); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,308 head, 1,200 to 1,400 lbs., 89.00 to 93.50 (92.38).
