Georgia cattle auction summary
The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Oct. 26 showed receipts of 12,479 head, compared to 11,623 head last week and 13,603 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were steady, feeder steers were steady to $1 higher, heifers were steady to $1 lower, steer calves were steady, heifer calves were steady to $1 higher, replacement cows were $1 to $2 higher. The offering included 7% steers over 600 pounds, 34% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 27% heifers under 600 pounds, 11% feeder cows, 14% slaughter cows, and 2% bulls.
