Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., Oct. 29, reported receipts of 5,534 head, compared to 5,212 head last week and 4,756 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, steer calves under 700 pounds sold steady to $2 lower. Heifer calves under 600 pounds sold fully $2 lower. Feeder cows sold fully steady to firm. Slaughter cows and bulls were lightly tested, however a lower undertone was noted. Receipts were comprised of 73% steers and 27% heifers with 42% weighing over 600 pounds. The total supply was made up of 90% feeder calves, 6% feeder cows, 3% slaughter cows and bulls with the balance miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 386 to 387 lbs., 136.00 to 145.00 (142.43); 428 to 447 lbs., 129.00 to 134.00 (132.47); 467 to 495 lbs., 123.00 to 131.25 (128.39); 505 to 541 lbs., 117.50 to 127.50 (123.95); 551 to 595 lbs., 113.50 to 121.25 (117.04); 68 head, 574 lbs., 126.00 fancy; 600 to 643 lbs., 114.00 to 122.75 (116.81) calves; 86 head, 601 lbs., 126.00 fancy; 653 to 683 lbs., 113.00 to 121.00 (117.64) calves; 701 to 741 lbs., 105.00 to 111.75 (111.28) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 473 to 497 lbs., 117.25 to 119.50 (117.50); 506 to 549 lbs., 112.50 to 118.50 (114.34); 16 head, 580 lbs., 111.00; 600 to 648 lbs., 110.75 to 114.25 (113.32) calves; 660 to 698 lbs., 105.00 to 112.50 (109.80) calves. Medium frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 431 lbs., 116.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 372 to 392 lbs., 124.00 to 125.50 (125.15); 418 to 448 lbs., 118.00 to 120.00 (118.56); 455 to 495 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00 (114.08); 500 to 540 lbs., 107.75 to 116.00 (112.02); 555 to 593 lbs., 104.25 to 111.50 (108.21); 44 head, 561 lbs., 118.00 fancy; 600 to 649 lbs., 102.00 to 109.00 (106.24) calves; 9 head, 673 to 691 lbs., 101.00 to 104.75 (103.48) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 494 lbs., 106.00; 502 to 542 lbs., 103.50 to 106.50 (104.79); 13 head, 577 to 587 lbs., 100.50 to 102.00 (101.30); 10 head, 600 to 605 lbs., 100.50 calves.

Feeder cows: 2 to 3 years old, 880 to 1000 lbs., 81.00 to 93.00; 3 to 4 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., 67.00 to 79.00; young to middle aged 1000 to 1350 lbs., 55.00 to 61.00; middle aged to aged 1000 to 1350 lbs., 47.50 to 53.50, few thin 43.50 to 46.50.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 42.25 to 45.50; low dressing, 38.50 to 41.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1275 lbs., 35.50 to 39.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1950 to 2200 lbs., 50.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 46.00.
