FSA committee voting clarified

Kansas

Bill R. Fuller, State Executive Director of the Kansas Farm Service Agency, Oct. 23 clarified eligibility requirements for the FSA county committee election for producers affected by FSA office consolidations.

Producers in closing FSA offices were provided the opportunity to transfer their farm records to the consolidating office or an alternative office contiguous to the closing office.

Producers that selected an alternative FSA county office to administer their records:

--Will still be eligible to hold office on the FSA County Committee where they reside and have a farming or ranching interest

--Will not be eligible to hold office on the FSA County Committee where their records are administered.

--Can vote in the County Committee election in the county where their records are administered and the county where they reside.

The consolidating county offices are accepting nominations for the County Committee election until Dec. 7. Eligible voters will be casting their ballots from Dec.10 through Jan. 11, 2008. Producers with questions or concerns shall contact the local FSA county office.
