Ericson cattle sales report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 4,700 head Oct. 27. compared to 2,600 head last week and 3,700 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, feeder calves trended $1 to $2 lower. Cattle quality was good, and most consignments had fall vaccinations. Receipts consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers, with 20% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 18 head, 346 to 348 lbs., 134.50 to 137.00 (136.30); 363 to 399 lbs., 130.00 to 151.00 (135.13); 408 to 449 lbs., 122.00 to 133.50 (127.73); 450 to 496 lbs., 118.00 to 132.00 (127.50); 500 to 549 lbs., 114.50 to 123.00 (118.15); 550 to 597 lbs., 113.75 to 119.10 (116.29); 612 to 625 lbs., 113.25 to 117.00 (116.42) calves; 652 to 696 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00 (116.23) calves; 701 to 739 lbs., 109.50 to 115.25 (112.64) calves; 42 head, 760 lbs., 113.50; 43 head, 897 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 410 to 444 lbs., 122.00 to 138.00 (127.58); 10 head, 497 lbs., 119.00; 10 head, 595 lbs., 111.00. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 495 lbs., 112.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 296 lbs., 134.00; 22 head, 334 lbs., 134.00; 378 to 392 lbs., 118.50 to 124.00 (122.69); 407 to 446 lbs., 116.50 to 126.00 (122.18); 457 to 498 lbs., 112.00 to 119.75 (116.47); 502 to 547 lbs., 108.00 to 117.00 (111.63); 551 to 596 lbs., 108.00 to 120.00 (112.74); 603 to 644 lbs., 108.75 to 114.50 (112.26) calves; 26 head, 689 lbs., 105.00; 11 head, 671 lbs., 108.50 calves; 25 head, 847 lbs., 102.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 29 head, 406 lbs., 119.00.
