Bids end day higher

Grain and soybean bids were all higher on Oct. 29 trading, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Wheat was near limit up with the idea that the sharp break last week has sparked interest and demand. Corn moved higher on crude oil moving higher and positive export trade and good demand for corn is supplying solid support. Soybeans were moderately higher as corn and wheat helped support beans and the extremely strong energy and metal markets continue to give strength to corn and beans along with a weak U.S. dollar.

Grains inspected for export for week ending Oct. 25: Wheat totaled 31.2 million bushels, up 3.4 million bushels; corn 43.8 million bushels, up 1.3 million bushels; sorghum 4.9 million bushels, down 300 thousand bushels and soybeans 32.2 million bushels, up 3.1 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 587.2 million bushels up 236.7 million; corn 345.3 million bushels up 1.4 million; sorghum 57.5 million bushels up 35.1 million and soybeans 170.4 million bushels down 41.5 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $8.54 1/4, up 26 3/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.144, up 26 cents; Minneapolis, $8.46, up 29 cents; Portland, was unavailable; St. Louis, $7.95, up 30 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.66, up 12 to 9 cents; Minneapolis, $3.41, unchanged; southern Iowa, $3.53 to $3.56, unchanged to up 1 cent; Omaha, $3.45 to $3.49, up 4 to 5 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.51, up 15 cents; Minneapolis, $9.43, up 12 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $9.58 to $9.61, up 12 1/2 cents; central Illinois processors, $9.86 to $9.96, up 15 1/2 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 30, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $8.54 to $9.09, down 17 1/4 cents; 12% protein, $9.01 to $9.24, down 17 1/4 cents; 13% protein, $9.15 to $9.27, down 17 1/4 cents; 14% protein, $9.22 to $9.32, down 17 1/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $8.02 to $8.37, down 17 1/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.87 to $3.90, unchanged.
