Asoyia expands product line, announces new seed partnerAsoyia, LLC, has unveiled the Asoyia Mid Oleic Ultra Low Linolenic soybean seed--Asoyia-MO-variety and new seed partnership with Merschman Seeds. The new line of experimental mid-oleic soybeans will produce a soybean oil with moderate oleic acid and ultra low linolenic acid to create an oil with superior frying stability and, more importantly, zero trans fats. Asoyia will offer 12 Asoyia-MO varieties to soybean producers along with 11 Non-GMO and 12 Roundup Ready soybean varieties for the 2008 growing season. "The expansion of our product line is an example of our ongoing efforts to answer the needs of today's consumer. Ever since trans fat oils have been proven to be a leading cause of heart disease, health food advocates have set the bar for food processors to provide zero trans fat ingredients. Asoyia's soybean is processed into one percent ultra low-lin soybean oil and is just that," said Brett Maxwell, vice president of operations. "Asoyia has been the leading-edge developer of one percent ultra low-lin soybeans and will increase soybean acres grown through our new distribution channels to keep pace with our zero trans fat oil demands," he said. In addition to the 12 Roundup Ready varieties, Asoyia will offer more than 20 Non-GMO varieties developed by Iowa State University distinguished professor of agriculture Walt Fehr and his team. These have been genetically designed for improved seed emergence, disease resistance and standability in a high yielding one percent ultra low-lin soybean. "We're really looking forward to the completion of this 2007 harvest to evaluate the numbers. Early reports and crop scouting indicate yield per acre to look awfully good," added Maxwell. Most recently Asoyia has expanded its distribution channels with seed partner Merschman Seeds, Inc. and ag retail distribution outlets Heartland Co-op, River Valley Co-op, Cargill AgHorizons and more. "We're excited to have the support of our retail outlets and a premier seed company like Merschman Seeds. Their vision of detail, quality product and stellar customer service mirror that of Asoyia. Through continued partnerships such as this, Asoyia will better meet the increasing zero trans fat oil demands of the food industry," he said. Date: 10/30/07
