Unusual warm weather continues

Wyoming

Hay and roughage supplies remained in good condition during the week ending Nov. 18, while the 2008 winter wheat crop was rated the same way, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Wyoming Field Office, Nov. 19

Warm days continue across the state. Average temperatures were reported from 5.1 to 13.7 degrees above normal for all stations. Spotty precipitation was reported by 16 stations across the state. High temperatures were mostly in the 60s and lows were reported mostly in the teens. Topsoil moisture levels that were adequate or better were rated at 40 percent, down 5 points from last week.

There were 6.9 days suitable for field work. The warm weather boosted corn harvested for grain. Eighty-four percent of the corn for grain had been harvested, 3 points ahead of this time last year and 7 points ahead of normal. The 2008 winter wheat conditions were reported as 9 percent fair, 67 percent good and 24 percent excellent.

Hay and roughage supplies were 81 percent good or better.
