Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,733 head Nov. 19, compared to 3,191 head last week and 2,652 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were steady to $1 higher. Few feeder steers and heifers were $2 lower. Good demand on better cattle. Weigh-ups were average to full. There was a good attendance of buyers. Mild temperatures along with drying conditions continued across much of the state. Receipts included 38% of steers, 45% heifers, 17% bulls, with 17% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher with bulls selling steady. Interest in bred cows increased. A total of 444 cows and bulls sold with 46% going to packers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 25 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1650 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00; low dressing, 38.50 to 42.00. Boners, 44 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1375 lbs., 43.50 to 47.00; high dressing, 48.00; low dressing, 39.00 to 42.50. Lean, 66 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 48.50; low dressing, 38.50 to 42.00. Light, 34 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 975 lbs., 35.00 to 38.50; high dressing, 39.00 to 40.00; low dressing, 31.50 to 34.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 33 head, 1300 to 2100 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 48.50 to 52.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, average blacks, 775.00 to 900.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average blacks, 825.00 to 910.00; 7 to 9 years old, 1075 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 740.00 to 835.00.
