St. Onge cattle sales report

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 2,729 head Nov. 16, compared to 3,237 head last week and 3,861 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, steer calves sold steady to $3 higher. Heifer calves under 600 pounds sold steady to $3 higher, and offerings over 600 pounds were not well tested however a lower undertone was noted. Yearling cattle were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good on all classes. Receipts were comprised of 66% steers and 34% heifers with 22% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 278 lbs., 141.00; 330 to 349 lbs., 134.00 to 138.00 (136.46); 363 to 396 lbs., 132.00 to 140.50 (138.26); 12 head, 444 lbs., 130.00; 462 to 496 lbs., 125.00 to 132.00 (129.50); 505 to 547 lbs., 112.50 to 120.50 (117.51); 550 to 585 lbs., 112.00 to 117.50 (114.11); 601 to 633 lbs., 109.50 to 114.00 (111.65) calves; 656 to 697 lbs., 107.50 to 113.00 (111.92) calves; 32 head, 731 lbs., 108.75 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 388 lbs., 131.00; 417 to 443 lbs., 124.00 to 129.00 (126.65); 462 to 487 lbs., 120.00 to 121.00 (120.28); 505 to 548 lbs., 108.50 to 114.00 (112.62); 551 to 581 lbs., 105.50 to 113.00 (110.91); 615 to 646 lbs., 101.25 to 106.00 (102.08) calves; 5 head, 692 lbs., 104.00 calves. Medium and large frame 2, 12 head, 474 lbs., 112.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 303 lbs., 125.00; 371 to 399 lbs., 119.00 to 126.75 (126.36); 404 to 435 lbs., 122.00 to 126.50 (123.88); 450 to 487 lbs., 114.25 to 122.50 (116.68); 515 to 519 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00 (110.17); 553 to 577 lbs., 101.75 to 105.00 (103.36); 11 head, 574 lbs., 100.00 fleshy; 601 to 633 lbs., 98.75 to 99.50 (99.41) calves; 6 head, 778 lbs., 97.50; 7 head, 871 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 354 to 390 lbs., 115.00 to 119.00 (116.16); 14 head, 406 to 425 lbs., 111.00 to 117.00 (113.08); 478 to 499 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (111.28); 24 head, 526 lbs., 105.50; 15 head, 565 to 579 lbs., 100.50 to 102.00 (101.41). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 323 lbs., 112.50. Medium frame 1 to 2, 11 head, 840 lbs., 90.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 459 lbs., 110.00; 8 head, 671 lbs., 94.00 calves.
