Newell sheep sales report
St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 3,603 head Nov. 15, compared to 4,105 head last week and 3,567 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter ewes sold $1 to $2 higher. Feeder lambs under 80 pounds sold mostly steady, offerings over 80 pounds sold $4 to $6 lower. Receipts were comprised of about 85% feeder lambs, 14% slaughter ewes with the balance miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 65 head, 158 lbs., 27.00; 64 head, 169 lbs., 25.25. Good 3 to 4, 15 head, 228 lbs., 18.50. Utility 1 to 2, 148 head, 148 lbs., 24.25. Cull 1, 192 head, 127 lbs., 14.75. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 51 to 57 lbs., 129.25 to 131.75 (130.83); 60 to 65 lbs., 124.00 to 127.25 (126.85); 82 head, 69 lbs., 108.75 fleshy; 44 head, 69 lbs., 111.00 short docks; 71 to 79 lbs., 105.75 to 113.00 (107.46); 76 to 78 lbs., 103.25 to 104.50 (104.36) fleshy; 82 to 86 lbs., 98.25 to 100.25 (99.59); 90 to 95 lbs., 90.00 to 95.25 (94.89); 101 to 106 lbs., 85.25 to 90.50 (88.94); 23 head, 132 lbs., 82.50 fleshy. Medium 1 to 2, 11 head, 65 lbs., 116.50; 39 head, 79 lbs., 101.50. Medium frame 2, 23 head, 44 lbs., 118.00. Slaughter bucks: 24 head, 223 lbs., 23.25 fleshy; 12 head, 194 lbs., 10.50 medium.
