Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 2,089 head of sheep and goats Nov. 16, compared to 1,516 head last week and 2,998 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $8 to $10 higher, heavy weights were $3 to $5 higher. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $5 to $7 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included round 40% sheep including nearly 450 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, few 80 to 100 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 130 lbs., 93.00 to 95.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 109.00 to 125.00, few to 230.00.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, few 140 lbs., 28.00. Utility 1 to 3, medium fleshy, 100 to 120 lbs., 41.00 to 48.00. Cull, thin/very thin, 25.00 to 28.00. Barbados, lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 110.00 to 123.00; 45 to 70 lbs., 103.00 to 124.00; ewes, 70 to 110 lbs., 50.00 to 59.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 112.00 to 123.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 121.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 98.00 to 110.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 140 lbs., 40.00 to 54.00, few light weights 59.00 to 66.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 80.00 to 89.00, few light weights 94.00 to 96.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 120 lbs., 90.00 to 114.00.

Replacement goats: Kids: Nannies, Selection 1, few 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 180 lbs., 90.00 to 158.00.
