Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 5,197 head, Nov. 14, compared to 4,406 head, last week and 4,475 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, 350- to 700-pound steers were steady to $4 lower, those at 500 to 550 pounds were steady to $5 higher, 700 to 750 pounds were not tested, and 750 to 975 pounds were steady to $3 lower. Heifers at 350 to 600 pounds were steady to $4 lower, 500 to 550 pounds were $1 higher, and 600 to 950 pounds on a light test were steady to weak. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 54% over 600 pounds, 30% under 600 pounds and 16% slaughter cows and bulls with 475 early. The feeder supply consisted of 55% steers and 45% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 43.50 to 49.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 40.50 to 43.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 41.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 48.50 to 49.00; low dressing, 29.50 to 40.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 53.00 to 58.00, high dressing, individual 62.50; low dressing, 41.00 to 51.50.
