Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,118 head Nov. 12, compared to 3,840 head last week and 4,087 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were steady to $2 higher. Feeder were steers steady to $1 higher. Heifer calves were $2 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher. There was very good demand on all classes. Weigh-ups were mostly average to a few full. Flesh conditions were average to a few fleshy calves. There was a good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 43% steers, 39% heifers, 16% bulls with 24% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $1 lower. A total of 403 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers.

Lean, 77 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1525 lbs., 42.50 to 44.75; high dressing, 45.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 37.50 to 41.00. Light, 31 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 36.00 to 39.50; high dressing, 40.00 to 42.00; low dressing, 31.50 to 35.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 24 head, 1400 to 2175 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 48.50 to 52.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1150 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, high quality, 930.00 to 1060.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 2 to 4 months bred, average quality, 625.00 to 725.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 125- to 200-lb. calves, high blacks, 1000.00 to 1300.00.
