Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,806 head Nov. 8, compared to 2,324 head last week and 2,069 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and feeder heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were not enough for a market test but a firm undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 600 to 850 pounds were steady to $2 higher, and 850 to 1000 pounds were not tested. Feeder heifers at 600 to 900 pounds were $3 to $5 higher in a light supply. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 74% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, 13% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 56% heifers and 44% steers.

Medium and large frame 2, 700 to 750 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00 (96.00); 6 head, 761 lbs., 102.00; 5 head, 840 lbs., 105.00. Small and medium frame 3, Longhorns, 11 head, 620 lbs., 45.00. Large frame 3, Holsteins, 11 head, 758 lbs., 75.00.

Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 41.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 47.00 to 51.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 53.00 to 58.00 (55.08); low dressing, 48.00 to 52.00 (50.40).
