Missouri Forage and Grassland Council presents awardsBy Doug Rich The Missouri Forage and Grassland Council (MFGC) held its annual meeting Nov. 5 and 6 in Lake Ozark, Mo. This year MFGS received the President's Award for outstanding affiliate from the American Forage and Grassland Council. The Grasslander Award for 2007 was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fletcher from Purdy, Mo., in southwest Missouri. The Fletcher family owns and operate KBC Dairy, a grass-based dairy business. The Grasslander Award in the agency category was presented to Richard Crawford, Superintendent of the University of Missouri Southwest Research Center near Mt. Vernon, Mo. Three new board members were named during the annual meeting. Dr. Justin Sexten, University of Missouri Extension Beef Specialist; Gary Duncan, who operates an electric fencing business in Ray County; and Darrel Franson, a producer from Lawrence County were added to the Board of Directors. 11/19/07 Date: 11/15/07
