Goldthwaite sheep sales
The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Nov. 9, reported receipts of 1,516 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,037 head last week and 2,208 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $8 to $10 higher, heavy weights were steady. Slaughter kids were $10 to $12 higher. Slaughter goats were steady to firm. Demand was very good. The supply included round 30% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 120 lbs., 48.00 to 59.00. Dorper bucks, 130.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 85 lbs., 49.00 to 62.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 80 to 100 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 89.00 to 117.00. Slaughter bucks, 150 to 200 lbs., 48.00 to 59.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 70 lbs., 90.00 to 101.00. Ewes, 70 to 90 lbs., 40.00 to 47.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 110.00 to 125.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 105.00 to 118.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 106.00 to 116.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00, few light weights to 60.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 75.00 to 86.00, few light weights to 90.00. Muttons, Selection 1, individual 95 lbs., 90.00.
