Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,840 head Nov. 5, compared to 4,018 head last week and 3,180 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, light weight steers were $3 to $5 higher. Feeder steers were steady. Light weight heifers and feeder heifers were steady to $1 lower. Stocker steer quality was attractive with feeder cattle plain to average. Weigh-ups were mostly average to few full. Condition were thin to a few fleshy calves. Demand was good on better cattle, with a good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 42% steers, 44% heifers, 14% bulls, with 20% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Packer cows were $2 lower. Bulls were $1 lower. Interest in bred cows continued to increase. A total of 557 cows and bulls sold with 42% going to harvest.

Light, 38 head, 85 to 90% lean, 700 to 975 lbs., 38.00 to 42.00; low dressing, 34.00 to 37.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 35 head, 1300 to 2130 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 58.50; low dressing, 50.00 to 53.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 4 years old, 1065 to 1400 lbs., 7 months bred, average quality, 800.00 to 835.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1150 to 1500 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 825.00 to 960.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1050 to 1285 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 610.00 to 725.00.
