Springfield livestock sales
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,409 head Oct. 30, compared to 2,529 head last week and 2,256 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 500 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, over 500 pounds and Holsteins, all weights, were steady to $3 lower, heifers under 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher, over 500 pounds were steady $2 lower. Demand and supply were moderate. Price spreads wide depending on quality, condition and demand. The feeder supply included 34% steers, 17% Holsteins, 35% heifers, 14% bulls, with 30% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 134.00 to 138.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 120.50, fleshy 103.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 100.00 to 108.00, weaned 108.50 to 110.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 102.50 to 107.00, package 858 lbs., 103.00.
