Newell sheep sales report
St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 3,313 head Nov. 1, compared to 5,177 head last week and 2,797 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter ewes sold steady to $1 higher. Feeder lambs sold $6 to $10 higher. Receipts were comprised of about 59% feeder lambs, 40% slaughter ewes with the balance miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 162 to 166 lbs., 25.25 to 26.25 (26.09). Good 2 to 4, 16 head, 128 lbs., 18.75 hair sheep. Good 3 to 4, 190 to 194 lbs., 18.75 to 21.75 (19.90). Utility and Good 1 to 3, 147 to 149 lbs., 24.25 to 24.75 (24.63). Cull and Utility 1 to 2, 329 head, 133 lbs., 17.75. Cull 1, 30 head, 121 lbs., 5.00 thin. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 55 to 56 lbs., 127.00; 46 head, 67 lbs., 117.00; 71 to 74 lbs., 114.00 to 118.50 (117.16); 19 head, 78 lbs., 77.00 buck lambs; 83 to 88 lbs., 106.25 to 109.00 (107.84); 15 head, 88 lbs., 71.00 buck lambs; 91 to 97 lbs., 103.00 to 109.50 (106.70); 97 head, 99 lbs., 100.25 poor fleeces; 101 to 105 lbs., 99.00 to 103.00 (102.08); 26 head, 106 lbs., 97.00 fleshy; 29 head, 112 lbs., 91.50 poor fleeces; 124 to 127 lbs., 85.50 to 86.00 (85.74) fleshy. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 2, 35 head, 83 lbs., 104.25. Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 31 head, 41 lbs., 110.00; 13 head, 99 lbs., 94.00. Small and medium frame 2, 58 head, 90 lbs., 77.00. Medium frame 1 to 2, 52 to 58 lbs., 117.00 to 118.00 (117.71); 8 head, 66 lbs., 110.50. Slaughter bucks: 29 head, 151 to 202 lbs., 21.50 to 23.25 medium to fleshy; 13 head, 214 lbs., 14.50 fleshy; 15 head, 200 lbs., 11.25 thin.
