Lexington livestock sales

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 2,400 head Nov. 2, compared to 2,355 head last week and 2,625 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $1 to $3 higher. Heifer calves sold steady to $2 higher. Buyer demand was moderate to good for all classes, best on weaned and pre-vaccinated calves weighing over 650 pounds. Buyer morale was improved as sunny, windy weather dried out lots as well as harvest winding up in certain areas. The offering included 55% steers, 44% heifers, with 29% over 600 pounds.
