Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 3,948 head Nov. 5, compared to 5,534 head last week and 967 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, steer calves sold mostly steady to $2 lower. Heifer calves sold fully steady. Feeder cows sold mostly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady in a light test. Receipts were comprised of 66% steers and 34% heifers with 49% weighing over 600 pounds. The total supply was made up of 85% feeder calves, 11% feeder cows, 3% slaughter cows and bulls with the balance miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 425 to 448 lbs., 126.00 to 133.00 (129.02); 493 to 494 lbs., 120.75 to 122.50 (121.66); 505 to 544 lbs., 117.00 to 124.50 (120.58); 559 to 597 lbs., 110.00 to 118.00 (113.74); 9 head, 551 lbs., 121.50 value added; 608 to 644 lbs., 108.00 to 116.00 (114.68) calves; 650 to 681 lbs., 107.50 to 115.25 (112.33) calves; 706 to 743 lbs., 107.25 to 112.25 (111.47) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 475 lbs., 118.00; 515 to 540 lbs., 114.00 to 117.00 (116.19); 610 to 625 lbs., 105.00 to 107.75 (107.43) calves. Medium 1 to 2, 36 head, 495 lbs., 115.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 377 lbs., 122.00; 418 to 440 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00 (113.57); 454 to 499 lbs., 111.50 to 117.00 (114.28); 500 to 544 lbs., 107.50 to 113.00 (111.25); 14 head, 510 lbs., 116.50 fancy; 552 to 598 lbs., 104.00 to 111.75 (108.38); 601 to 625 lbs., 103.50 to 106.00 (105.11) calves; 665 to 672 lbs., 102.00 to 107.75 (107.35) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 507 to 545 lbs., 103.50 to 113.25 (110.85); 17 head, 560 lbs., 103.50; 16 head, 612 lbs., 102.50) calves. Medium frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 493 lbs., 100.50. Small and medium frame 2 to 3, 9 head, 317 lbs., 105.00; 14 head, 375 lbs., 90.00; 18 head, 402 lbs., 88.50.

Feeder cows: 3 to 4 years old, 980 to 1100 lbs., 70.00 to 79.00; young to middle aged 1000 to 1350 lbs., 57.00 to 62.50; middle aged, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 49.25 to 54.00; aged, 1150 to 1275 lbs., 45.25 to 48.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1850 lbs., 41.50 to 45.50; low dressing, 40.25 to 40.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 37.50 to 41.00; low dressing, 35.25 to 36.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 2235 lbs., 51.00 to 55.25; low dressing, 47.50 to 49.50.
