Dunlap cattle sales report
The Dunlap Livestock Auction, Dunlap, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,758 head Nov. 2, compared to 511 head last week and 1,628 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. This was a special feeder cattle sale. Demand was moderate. There was no comparison as the last sale was a preconditioned sale. The sale was made up of good quality calves. A light crowd was on hand as area farmers were finishing up harvest. Heifer calves were under pressure. Receipts included 33% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, with 53% feeder heifers and 47% feeder steers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 314 to 338 lbs., 132.00 to 143.00 (137.30); 424 to 449 lbs., 121.50 to 128.25 (123.98); 452 to 481 lbs., 123.00 to 127.50 (124.62); 500 to 543 lbs., 117.00 to 127.00 (123.07); 550 to 590 lbs., 112.75 to 121.50 (118.29); 605 to 635 lbs., 112.25 to 117.00 (112.95) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 451 to 498 lbs., 115.00 to 119.50 (117.91); 502 to 543 lbs., 109.00 to 116.00 (113.36). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 17 head, 368 to 389 lbs., 119.00 to 122.00 (120.13); 410 to 448 lbs., 118.00 to 121.25 (119.32); 472 to 494 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00 (107.14); 526 to 546 lbs., 106.50 to 113.50 (109.25); 509 to 542 lbs., 97.00 to 103.25 (99.85) fleshy; 550 to 585 lbs., 104.00 to 112.25 (107.15); 551 to 599 lbs., 95.00 to 100.50 (97.35) fleshy; 16 head, 594 lbs., 103.00 yearlings; 601 to 615 lbs., 100.10 to 104.75 (103.40) calves; 724 to 742 lbs., 104.50 to 105.00 (104.65).
