Denison livestock sales
The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,361 head Nov. 1, compared to 1,516 head last week and 1,802 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. This was a special feeder cattle sale. Demand was moderate. Compared to last week, steers were steady with a weaker undertone noted. Heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers were steady. Receipts included 47% feeder heifers and 53% feeder steers, with 46% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 341 lbs., 138.00; 435 to 448 lbs., 126.00 to 131.50 (130.69); 450 to 456 lbs., 131.00 to 133.00 (132.40); 7 head, 516 lbs., 125.50; 573 to 595 lbs., 114.00 to 119.75 (118.10); 15 head, 553 to 584 lbs., 113.00 to 113.50 (113.16) fleshy; 611 to 644 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00 (114.82) calves; 694 to 699 lbs., 110.75 to 112.00 (111.39) calves; 7 head, 688 lbs., 104.00 fleshy; 720 to 744 lbs., 108.50 to 111.25 (110.71); 15 head, 704 to 738 lbs., 107.00 to 110.50 (108.91) calves; 12 head, 753 lbs., 110.00; 60 head, 847 lbs., 111.50; 52 head, 862 lbs., 107.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 304 to 325 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00 (123.61); 13 head, 484 lbs., 124.00.
