Colorado Ag Classic set for Nov. 28, 29 in Fort CollinsColorado The 2007 Colorado Ag Classic hosted by six agricultural organizations will be held Nov. 28 to 29, at Hilton in Fort Collins, Colo. The third annual event is jointly hosted by the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers/Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee/Colorado Wheat Research Foundation, Colorado Corn Growers Association/Colorado Corn Administrative Committee, Colorado Sunflower Administrative Committee, Colorado Sorghum Producers, Colorado Seed Growers Association and Colorado Seed Industry Association. The Colorado Ag Classic will open on the afternoon of Nov. 28, with a state legislative program featuring key members of the Colorado House and Senate Agriculture Committees to be followed by Ag Classic Olympics and a reception and auction to raise funds for CAWG and CCGA state and national legislative efforts. Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture John Stulp will open the general session the morning of Nov. 29, with remarks on the state of agriculture in Colorado. Colorado Governor Bill Ritter will follow with remarks on his administration's agenda for Colorado agriculture. Agribusiness Consultant Kevin Ochsner will conclude the morning's general session with an address entitled: "Keys to Capitalizing on Change in U.S. Agriculture." Breakout sessions after lunch will feature presentations on topics related to; commodity prices in the new era, biomass-based fuel cooperatives, crops for cancer prevention and health, rail transportation issues, 2007 farm bill, advanced cellulosic biorefining technology, water administration in Colorado, and alternatives to agricultural dry up for meeting municipal water needs. A workers' compensation insurance safety meeting and a CAWG policy session will also be held during the day.
