Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending May 19, totaled 3,600 head, compared to 3,600 head last week and 1,800 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to two weeks ago at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold $2 to $4 higher with most advance noted on 600 to 700 pounds suitable for grass. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trade is slow with no good price comparison available. Offerings were light. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 45% of the supply, heifers 55%, with 76% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 425 head of the total receipts.
