UNL Block and Bridle Club, animal science department honor stud

University of Nebraska-Lincoln animal science students recently received awards and scholarships at the annual Animal Science Block and Bridle Club honors banquet.

Block and Bridle Club awards, recipients and hometowns are: Outstanding Senior Scholarship, Parr Young, Jackelyn Snyder, Hershey; Outstanding Junior Scholarship, Janae Althouse, Eagle; Senior Workhorse, Jackelyn Snyder, Hershey; Junior Activities, Janae Althouse, Eagle; Sophomore Activities, Annie Doerr, Creighton; Outstanding Initiate, Laura Witte, Scribner; Mike Cull Block and Bridle Judging and Activities Award, Bryttni Westlake, Kinnear, Wyo.

Don Geweke Awards for the UNL Meat Animal Evaluation Contest are: Senior Meats Judging, first place, Russell Pedrett, Minden; Senior Meats Judging, second place, Mallory Becker, McClellandtown, Penn.; Junior Meats Judging, first place, Garrett Leithoff, Litchfield. The Horse Judging Team Award went to Chelsea Leatherwood, Lincoln; R.B. Warren scholarship, Dirk Burken, Blue Hill.

Sophomore, junior and senior animal science majors in the top 10 percent of their classes in UNL's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were honored by the American Society of Animal Science. Recipients are listed by class, name and hometown.
