Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,689 head May 21, compared to 1,784 head last week and 1,871 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steers were $2 to $4 higher. Heifers were steady to $3 higher. Demand was very active with good attendance of buyers. Weigh-ups were average. The supply included several numbers of fleshy new crop calves. Receipts consisted of 45% steers, 47% heifers, 8% bulls with 29% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. Demand was very good for packer cows especially on high yielding fleshy cows. A total of 244 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 293 to 295 lbs., 168.00 to 171.00 (169.40); 8 head, 300 to 349 lbs., 147.00 to 159.00 (149.10); 20 head, 355 to 398 lbs., 140.00 to 151.00 (144.61); 403 to 442 lbs., 131.50 to 139.00 (135.86); 458 to 490 lbs., 120.00 to 130.50 (125.12); 500 to 547 lbs., 119.00 to 128.00 (123.01); 16 head, 550 to 588 lbs., 118.00 to 123.50 (120.51); 600 to 640 lbs., 112.50 to 119.50 (116.48); 658 to 695 lbs., 105.50 to 114.00 (110.60). Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 462 to 485 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00 (119.54). Small and medium frame 1, 9 head, 365 to 380 lbs., 119.00 to 128.00 (124.70); 6 head, 400 to 408 lbs., 125.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 431 to 445 lbs., 120.00 to 123.00 (121.82); 7 head, 520 to 540 lbs., 110.50 to 118.00 (111.61); 8 head, 565 to 595 lbs., 114.00 to 119.00 (115.72); 10 head, 613 to 638 lbs., 106.00 to 112.00 (109.72). Small and medium frame 1, 5 head, 515 lbs., 113.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 288 to 295 lbs., 125.00 to 136.00 (128.75); 9 head, 350 to 370 lbs., 121.00 to 130.00 (124.82); 401 to 445 lbs., 111.00 to 124.00 (117.94); 450 to 490 lbs., 110.00 to 118.50 (112.98); 500 to 547 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00 (108.07); 553 to 590 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00 (107.63); 600 to 648 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00 (104.04); 14 head, 650 to 695 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00 (101.69); 710 to 729 lbs., 101.00 to 103.50 (103.20). Medium and large frame 2, 11 head, 370 to 394 lbs., 109.00 to 117.00 (113.73); 5 head, 555 to 580 lbs., 101.50 to 105.00 (103.20); 12 head, 705 lbs., 99.49.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 25 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1550 lbs., 58.00 to 61.00; high dressing, 61.50 to 73.50; low dressing, 53.50 to 57.00. Boners, 40 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1550 lbs., 57.00 to 60.50; high dressing, 61.00 to 69.00; low dressing, 53.00 to 56.50. Lean, 35 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1375 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 49.50 to 53.00. Light, 20 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 975 lbs., 46.50 to 50.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 45.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 20 head, 1200 to 2125 lbs., 65.50 to 69.00; high dressing, 70.00 to 75.00; low dressing, 61.00 to 64.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 3 years old, heifers, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average blacks, 900.00 to 925.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 3 years old, 700 to 800 lbs., with 50- to 100-lb. calves, low quality, thin, 700.00 to 850.00.
